A significant fire erupted at an empty restaurant located at the tip of the Oceanside Pier in North County San Diego, as confirmed by the Oceanside Fire Department.
The historic wooden pier, stretching nearly 2,000 feet and dating back to 1888, serves as a prominent landmark in the coastal city of Oceanside, close to Camp Pendleton.
Authorities urged the public to avoid the area as firefighters battled the blaze, which produced visible smoke over the pier, visible from several miles away.
The fire appeared to have affected Brine Box, a nearby fish shack, although reports assured the safety of its staff.
Emergency responders, including the U.S. Coast Guard and local law enforcement agencies, worked to contain the fire from both land and air, Fox News reported.
As of now, there is no official information regarding injuries or the cause of the fire.
