Idaho Falls man kicks Yellowstone bison and goes to jail, say park officials

Yellowstone Park officials reported an incident involving a man from Idaho Falls who, while intoxicated, approached and kicked a bison, resulting in his injury and subsequent arrest.

Clarence Yoder, 40, was found near the West Entrance of the park after reports of harassing a bison herd.

Rangers intervened and charged Yoder with various offenses, including being under the influence of alcohol and disturbing wildlife.

The driver of the vehicle, McKenna Bass, 37, was also arrested for driving under the influence and other charges, East Idaho News reported.

Both individuals pleaded not guilty in court. Yoder’s injuries were minor, and he was treated at a nearby medical facility before being taken to a detention center in Bozeman, Montana.

The incident marks the first reported injury by a bison in 2024.
