CIA Director Bill Burns is headed to Doha for urgent discussions with Qatar’s Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani regarding mediation efforts in the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Qatar, along with the US and Egypt, has been engaged in negotiations aimed at securing a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages, Barron’s reported.
Despite recent talks in Cairo yielding no breakthrough, efforts continue, with Qatar playing a significant role due to its hosting of Hamas’s political leadership and its strategic partnership with the US, which includes hosting the largest American military base in the region.
