Rifle-Armed Robot Dogs Now Being Tested By Marine Special Operators

The United States Marine Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC) is reportedly utilizing rifle-equipped “robot dogs,” making them a pioneering force within the U.S. military.

Onyx Industries, the supplier of the gun system, confirmed the deployment of two such robotic dogs equipped with Onyx’s SENTRY remote weapon system.

These dogs are engaged in tasks like tunnel work and perimeter security, utilizing the Vision 60 quadrupedal unmanned ground vehicle by Ghost Robotics, The War Zone has reported.

The SENTRY RWS combines electro-optical/infrared capability with AI-enabled target detection and remote weapon actuation, allowing operators to engage targets from anywhere in the world via various communication networks.

MARSOC’s adoption of these robotic dogs signifies a transition from traditional canine use to autonomous systems, offering enhanced capabilities in reconnaissance and security operations.
