L.A. mayor’s dog helped stop man who shouted ‘Karen!’ during break-in

A man broke into the Los Angeles home of Mayor Karen Bass, reportedly shouting her name during the incident.

The break-in occurred in April, with the intruder, identified as Ephraim Hunter, allegedly attempting to access bedrooms in the mansion before being frightened off by the mayor’s German shepherd.

Law enforcement sources revealed that Hunter screamed “Karen!” multiple times during the intrusion.

However, it remains unclear whether he did so before or after being detained by police.

Prosecutors claim that Hunter’s actions indicated he was specifically targeting Bass, though details on his motives are scarce, the Los Angeles Times has reported.

While the District Attorney suggested Hunter was aware he was at the mayor’s residence, police investigators are puzzled by the remarks, stating there’s no evidence suggesting a planned attack.

Hunter’s mother disclosed that he struggled with drug addiction and was hallucinating at the time of the incident, echoing his own account of being disoriented and fleeing perceived danger.

Despite claims of calling out his brother’s name, not the mayor’s, the case remains under investigation.
