Amidst the devastation of flooding in northern Afghanistan, a video captures the rescue of three young children sitting on the roof of a mosque, covered in mud.
Their baby brother, Arian, is lowered to safety by a rescuer, his tiny body wrapped in a sheet.
Tragically, at least 300 people have lost their lives in the floods across multiple provinces, with hundreds more injured.
The rescued children, part of a family of eight siblings, were caught in the flooding while at home in Folo, Baghlan province.
Eyewitnesses describe how severe winds and unusual rainfall preceded the disaster, forcing people to seek refuge in the mountains, CNN reported.
Among those affected, women and children are particularly vulnerable, seen wearing mud-soaked clothing even in the midst of rescue operations.
The scale of the tragedy is immense, with over 100 people reported dead in Folo alone, and many more feared buried under mudslides.
