Michael Cohen, Donald Trump’s former lawyer, testified for a third day in the former president’s criminal trial, admitting to deceiving Trump and his company for money while asserting that Trump approved the hush money payment to Stormy Daniels.
Trump’s attorney indicated that Trump is unlikely to testify and plans to call two brief witnesses before resting the defense.
Cohen discussed his conversations with Trump on the day he transferred money to Daniels and acknowledged being preoccupied with other matters at the time, including a deal involving taxi medallions and an extortion threat related to Trump’s daughter Tiffany.
Cohen denied discussing the Tiffany Trump situation with her father during those calls, NBC News reported.
He also revealed that Trump reimbursed him for $50,000 related to a dispute with a technology company, which Cohen said was doubled to avoid taxes.
This payment stemmed from efforts to manipulate a CNBC poll, with Trump displeased at placing ninth on the list despite their efforts.
