Federal judge makes key rulings ahead of Hunter Biden’s trial on gun charges in June

In Hunter Biden’s gun case, Federal Judge Maryellen Noreika issued pretrial rulings favoring both the prosecution and the defense.

She ruled that prosecutors must prove Biden’s general drug use at the time of his 2018 gun purchase, rather than drug use on the specific day.

This was a win for the prosecution, while Biden had argued for a narrower interpretation, CNN reported.

Additionally, the judge allowed Biden’s lawyers to challenge the authenticity of certain texts from his laptop, which special counsel David Weiss’ team plans to present.

Prosecutors emphasized that only a small, corroborated portion of the laptop’s messages would be used at trial.
