At least 14 dead, dozens injured, as tornadoes leave destruction in TX and OK

Powerful storms wreaked havoc across Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas on Sunday, killing at least 14 people and causing extensive damage.

In Cooke County, Texas, seven people died, including two children, when a tornado hit a rural area near a mobile home park.

In Oklahoma, two people were killed and several homes were destroyed, including at an outdoor wedding. Tens of thousands of residents were left without power.

In Valley View, Texas, Hugo Parra and others sheltered in a truck stop bathroom as the storm ripped off the building’s roof and walls. Many were injured and transported to hospitals, NBC News reported.

In Arkansas, five fatalities were reported, including a woman found outside a destroyed home in Boone County and another in Benton County.

Two additional deaths occurred in Marion County. Search and rescue operations continue, with emergency responders still assessing the situation and assisting the injured.
