An 81-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly terrorizing a southern California neighborhood with a slingshot for years, according to police.

Detectives discovered that over the past 9-10 years, dozens of residents were targeted by a serial slingshot shooter, breaking windows and car windshields and narrowly missing people with ball bearings.

No injuries were reported. The man was apprehended on Thursday after a search warrant at his home in Azusa, east of Los Angeles, uncovered a slingshot and ball bearings, The Guardian reported.

Police suspect the projectiles were mostly fired from his backyard. The motive appears to be malicious mischief. The man is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
