1 million customers are without power in Texas, and it could be a ‘multi-day’ situation

More than a million customers in Texas are without power due to powerful storms that have battered the state.

These storms, bringing hurricane-force wind gusts, caused significant damage in the Dallas area, where Dallas Fort Worth International Airport recorded a 77 mph gust.

The storms later hit Houston, with George Bush Intercontinental Airport recording a 75 mph gust. Power outages began in Dallas early Tuesday and spread south as the storms progressed.

Dallas County officials declared a disaster, warning that outages could last for days, CNN reported.

This recent severe weather follows deadly storms over Memorial Day weekend, which resulted in at least seven deaths in Texas and nearly two dozen fatalities across five states.

On Tuesday, Texas and extreme western Louisiana are facing severe weather threats, including large hail, lightning, wind gusts up to 80 mph, and potential tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service.
