President Biden addressed former President Trump’s recent criminal conviction, emphasizing that it’s unacceptable for anyone to dismiss the verdict as rigged simply because they disagree with it.
The conviction, which saw Trump found guilty on 34 felony counts in a New York hush money trial, has sparked outrage among Republicans, with some even suggesting retaliation if Trump wins the upcoming election.
Trump himself responded with a lengthy tirade during a news conference at Trump Tower, pledging to appeal the ruling and criticizing the prosecution as a sham.
Some Republicans have urged Trump to target the Biden family and Democratic prosecutors if he regains the presidency, the Axios reported.
Biden stressed the importance of upholding the principle that no one is above the law and highlighted that Trump had ample opportunity to defend himself in court before a jury of 12 citizens unanimously reached their decision after a five-week trial.
Biden reaffirmed the integrity of the American justice system and condemned any attempts to undermine it. He concluded by asserting that America will always stand by these principles.
