Canadian serial killer Robert Pickton, infamous for taking female victims to his pig farm near Vancouver during the late 1990s and early 2000s, has died at 74 after being assaulted in prison.
Pickton, who was serving a life sentence at Port-Cartier Institution in Quebec, succumbed to injuries from a May 19 assault by another inmate.
Convicted in 2007 of six counts of second-degree murder and linked to the deaths of 33 women, Pickton’s case garnered international attention, NBC News reported.
He once claimed to have killed 49 women and fed their remains to his pigs, prompting health officials to issue a tainted meat advisory to neighbors.
