Two in custody after rookie police officer and bystander shot dead at Arizona reservation

Two people are in police custody following a shooting at a dance on the Gila River Indian Reservation in Arizona, which resulted in the deaths of a rookie police officer, Joshua Briese, and a bystander early Saturday.

The FBI is investigating the incident and confirmed that both suspects, one adult and one juvenile, are in custody and receiving medical care.

Another police officer is in serious but stable condition, and four additional individuals were shot, with one fatality among them.

The conditions of the others are currently unknown, NBC News reported.

The FBI expressed condolences to those affected by the tragedy. In response, the Gila River Indian River Community Council announced a moratorium on dances during a Saturday meeting.
