Large chunk of Wyoming Teton Pass road collapses

A significant portion of a winding mountain pass road in Wyoming collapsed, creating a large gap and cutting off a key commuter route between eastern Idaho towns and Jackson, a popular tourist destination.

Aerial and drone footage revealed deep cracks and a missing section of the Teton Pass road, with part of the guardrail hanging over the edge.

The road was closed at the time of the incident.

The initial issue was noticed on Thursday when a crack and a drop in the road caused a motorcycle crash, the Associated Press has reported.

Geologists and engineers observed significant movement in the damaged area, leading to a temporary patch and reopening of the road that night.

However, the road was closed again early Friday due to a nearby mudslide.
