Federal prosecutors announced on Monday that Felix Herrera Garcia, the central figure in a Bronx drug mill disguised as a day care center, has pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including conspiracy to distribute narcotics resulting in death.
This comes after four children under the age of 3 were poisoned by drugs sold at Divino Niño Daycare in Kingsbridge, leading to the tragic death of 1-year-old Nicholas Feliz Dominici last September.
Garcia admitted guilt to three charges related to the incident just before his trial was set to commence.
Prosecutors stated that Garcia, described as the primary figure in the drug operation, faces a potential sentence of 20 years to life in prison, the New York Post has reported.
Alongside his wife Grei Mendez and another individual, Carlisto Brito, Garcia allegedly operated a fentanyl mill in the basement of the day care, resulting in the exposure of four children to the deadly synthetic opioid.
