Hezbollah launched approximately 215 rockets, along with missiles and drones, at northern Israel on Wednesday in retaliation for the killing of a senior commander by an Israeli airstrike the previous night.
This marked the largest attack by Hezbollah amid ongoing border conflicts with Lebanon during the Gaza Strip war.
The group vowed to intensify its operations against Israel in response to the elimination of commander Taleb Abdullah.
At a Beirut funeral, senior Hezbollah official Hashem Safieddine declared increased attacks.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a security meeting due to the northern developments, the Times of Israel has reported.
The attacks began Wednesday morning with at least 90 rockets targeting areas in northern Israel, including Tiberias, Safed, and Rosh Pina, prompting tens of thousands to seek shelter during the Shavuot holiday.
The Israel Defense Forces reported an additional 70 rockets aimed at the Mount Meron area, followed by 10 rockets at Zar’it, and an anti-tank missile striking a factory in Kibbutz Sasa.
Later, a drone from Lebanon exploded near Zivon.
