Three sheriff’s deputies were shot on Wednesday while responding to a report of a person threatening self-harm or harm to others in the Lost Lake community near Dixon, Illinois.
The suspect was also wounded in the incident.
Ogle County Sheriff Brian VanVickle stated that the deputies were fired upon as they entered the home after negotiators’ attempts to make contact by phone failed.
Despite the initial exchange of fire, all those injured are reported to be in good condition, the Associated Press has reported.
Two of the three injured individuals taken to Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital were treated and released, while the condition of the third remains undisclosed.
The Illinois State Police will be investigating the shooting.
