Republicans slam Biden immigration order as election ploy

Republicans are criticizing President Biden’s recent decision to facilitate the path to permanent residency for undocumented spouses and children of U.S. citizens, alleging it aims to sway the 2024 election by increasing Democratic voters.

Former President Trump has claimed Biden is exploiting migrants for political gain, suggesting the move will allow Democrats to register more voters.

Despite these claims, the initiative affects around 550,000 individuals and simplifies their process to obtain legal status, though it does not grant immediate citizenship or voter eligibility, The Hill has reported.

This stance reflects GOP concerns about potential future Democratic voters resulting from Biden’s immigration policy.
