Police in Tustin are searching for suspects who robbed a U.S. Secret Service agent at gunpoint on Saturday night.
The incident occurred around 9:40 p.m. at the intersection of Stratus Lane and Westwind Drive in the Tustin Fields residential area.
The agent, who fired at the suspects as they fled, reported that his bag was stolen. Some of the agent’s belongings have been recovered, but the suspects remain at large.
It’s unknown if any suspects were hit by the agent’s gunfire. A 2004-06 silver Infiniti FX35 or similar vehicle was seen leaving the scene, and police have released a security image of the vehicle.
The Tustin Police Department is seeking public assistance to identify the suspects and has provided contact information for tips, KTLA has reported.
President Joe Biden was in Southern California for a fundraising event, but it is unclear if the agent was part of his detail.
