Genovese mobster ID’d as NYC pedestrian decapitated by truck

Anthony Conigliaro, an 86-year-old former acting captain for the Genovese crime family, was decapitated by a city Department of Transportation truck at a Brooklyn crosswalk on June 12.

Known as “Tony Cakes” and “Tony the Dessert Man,” Conigliaro lived quietly in a small Bay Ridge apartment.

Despite his mobster past and a 2005 racketeering case where he pleaded guilty and served 13 months, neighbors remembered him as a caring individual.

Conigliaro’s past also included arrests for criminal usury in 1999 and grand larceny in 2006.

Attempts to reach his family were unsuccessful, the New York Post reported.

Grisly footage from the crash revealed Anthony Conigliaro’s head severed several yards from his body after he walked against a traffic light and was struck by a city Department of Transportation truck.

The truck driver appeared teary-eyed and devastated. A source speculated that the driver might now be seeking witness protection.
