Six law enforcement officers and a priest were reportedly killed in coordinated attacks by gunmen in Russia’s Dagestan province.
The attacks targeted a church and synagogue in Derbent and another synagogue and a police traffic stop in Makhachkala, cities 120 km apart.
Twelve law enforcement officers were wounded, though it’s unclear where. Two militants were also killed.
In Derbent, a priest, Father Nikolay, was killed, and a security guard at the church was shot, CNN has reported.
The synagogue in Derbent was set on fire, with large flames and smoke visible. Simultaneous attacks occurred in Makhachkala.
The Israeli foreign ministry described these incidents as a combined attack on two synagogues.
