US sends aircraft carrier to South Korea

The United States has sent the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt to South Korea for joint military drills, demonstrating strength following the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un in Pyongyang.

This move came a day after South Korea summoned the Russian ambassador to protest a defense deal between Putin and Kim, which included mutual aid pledges.

The South Korean navy stated the carrier’s arrival underscores the strong defense posture of the South Korea-US alliance and their commitment to addressing North Korean threats, The Telegraph has reported.

This visit follows the USS Carl Vinson’s similar show of strength against Pyongyang seven months ago.
