An Israeli air strike in Gaza City killed four people, including senior Hamas official Ehab Al-Ghussein, according to Palestinian sources.
Al-Ghussein had been managing Hamas affairs in Gaza City and northern Gaza for three months.
The Israeli army confirmed the strike, stating it targeted a school building used by terrorists and aimed to minimize civilian harm, the BBC has reported.
Eyewitnesses reported the attack on the Holy Family School, where many were sheltering. Al-Ghussein, previously deputy labor minister and interior ministry spokesman for Hamas, was a significant leadership figure, though his death is not considered a military setback for Hamas.
Numerous Hamas officials have been killed in the past nine months.
