President Joe Biden on Friday firmly rejected growing calls from critics within his party to exit the race, emphasizing his commitment to reelection and warning against a potential second term for Donald Trump.
Speaking to a supportive crowd in Detroit, Biden reiterated that he is not done yet and vowed to highlight Trump’s policies if he returns to the White House.
He condemned the far-right agenda pushed by conservative think tanks and outlined his goals for the first 100 days of a second term.
Biden defended his candidacy, asserting that the voters, not the media or party insiders, made him the nominee, the Associated Press has reported.
Despite his efforts to reassure anxious lawmakers and donors through travel and interviews, about 20 House Democrats and one senator have publicly urged him to step aside.
In a recent meeting, California Rep. Mike Levin directly told Biden that he should withdraw as the Democratic nominee.
