A Southern California man, Joseph Brandon Gerdvil, 41, has been arrested for allegedly decapitating his elderly parents, Ronald Walter Gerdvil, 77, and Antoinette Gerdvil, 79, along with the family dog.

Authorities responded to a domestic violence call at a mobile home in San Juan Capistrano on July 9, where they found the couple dead.

Shortly after, deputies learned that a “bloody male” had chased a maintenance worker and stolen his golf cart. Gerdvil was found in the cart near a local bike trail, where deputies shot him multiple times.

He was hospitalized in critical but stable condition. Witnesses reported seeing Gerdvil in a heated argument with his father the day before, Fox News reported.

Gerdvil, who reportedly had a drug issue and was living with his parents, will be charged with two counts of homicide once medically cleared.
