One person was killed and six others were injured when a pickup truck collided with the horse-drawn buggy they were traveling in, according to the Virginia State Police.
The accident occurred just before 7 p.m. on Sunday in the 2700 block of Cumberland Road, located in the Farmville area of Cumberland County, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) west of Richmond.
There were seven people in the buggy at the time of the collision.
One person died at the scene, while the other six were taken to a hospital with injuries ranging from serious to life-threatening. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
The crash is currently under investigation, police said, the Associated Press has reported.
