Haley and DeSantis complete U-turns with fawning pro-Trump speeches

On the second night of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis reaffirmed their support for former President Donald Trump, despite their past criticisms.

Haley aimed to appeal to undecided Republican voters, emphasizing that one doesn’t need to agree with Trump 100% to support him, while also criticizing President Biden’s foreign policy.

DeSantis focused on domestic issues, including immigration and crime, arguing that Democrats prioritize “coddling criminals” over protecting citizens, and echoed Haley’s concerns about Biden’s perceived weakness.

Both governors highlighted the need for a unified Republican Party to counter Biden’s administration, the Daily Express has reported.

Trump’s vice presidential pick, J.D. Vance, is scheduled to speak on Wednesday, with Trump set to accept the nomination on Thursday.

Trump also made headlines for sustaining an ear injury during a recent shooting incident at his campaign rally.
