U.S. Representative Adam Schiff, a California Democrat running for the Senate, privately warned donors that the Democratic Party could face significant losses if President Joe Biden continues his reelection campaign.

During a fundraiser in New York, Schiff stated, “If he is our nominee, I think we lose,” potentially jeopardizing the Senate and House races.

His comments come as at least 19 congressional Democrats have called for Biden to withdraw following a poor debate performance against Donald Trump, despite Biden’s commitment to stay in the race, Reuters has reported.

Currently, Republicans hold a 220-213 majority in the House, while Democrats have a narrow 51-49 majority in the Senate.
