Schumer Told Biden It Would Be Best to End Candidacy

Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer reportedly advised President Joe Biden in a Saturday meeting that it might be better for both the country and the Democratic Party if he ended his reelection campaign, a sentiment echoed by House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries.

Schumer’s office dismissed the report as “idle speculation,” emphasizing that he conveyed the views of his caucus directly to Biden.

Additionally, Representative Adam Schiff became the 20th congressional Democrat to publicly urge Biden to withdraw from the race, amid concerns about the 81-year-old incumbent’s ability to defeat Republican challenger Trump and serve a second term, Reuters has reported.
