A riot erupted in Leeds, UK, after police responded to an incident involving agency workers and children on Thursday evening.
West Yorkshire Police were called to Luxor Street, Harehills, at 5 p.m., where they encountered a disturbance involving the workers and children.
As officers moved the workers and children to safety, tensions escalated, leading to “pockets of disorder.”
Social media footage showed a large crowd, a police car overturned, and a bus set on fire, NDTV has reported.
UK Home Secretary Yvette Cooper condemned the violence on social media, expressing shock at the attacks on police vehicles and public transport, and praised West Yorkshire Police for their response.
