Two large wildfires ignited in Riverside County, California, on Sunday, forcing evacuations as flames destroyed three homes and threatened over 1,000 others.
The Hawarden Fire started around 1 p.m. south of downtown Riverside and quickly spread, destroying three homes and damaging four others.
About 1,500 homes are in the affected area, with evacuations ordered and an evacuation center set up at the Orange Terrace Community Center. The fire has burned 480 acres and remains uncontrolled.
Meanwhile, the Eagle Fire started on Sunday, consuming over 1,600 acres by Monday morning, with 50% containment achieved. Evacuations were ordered for multiple communities near Eagle Canyon Road, east of Corona, Fox Weather has reported.
The fires spread rapidly due to excessively hot temperatures and dry conditions, with a Heat Advisory in effect for San Bernardino and Riverside counties through Wednesday night, forecasting temperatures above 105 degrees.
