Rep. Michael McCaul indicated that a report on the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump could be completed by the end of the year.
Speaking on CBS News’s “Face the Nation,” McCaul criticized security failures that allowed the assailant to get dangerously close to Trump and revealed the attacker had a detonation device and two bombs.
The House recently voted to establish a task force to investigate the Butler County, Pennsylvania, incident, which resulted in injuries to Trump and two others, and the death of the shooter.
McCaul, who emphasized the need for experienced professionals on the task force, also commented on former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle’s resignation, stating that the failure to protect the president was evident, the Washington Times has reported.
The FBI confirmed that Trump was indeed hit by a bullet during the attack.
