Two children have died and numerous others have been injured in a stabbing attack during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport.

Nine children were injured, with six in critical condition. Two adults protecting the children are also critically injured. Paramedics treated 11 casualties.

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

The attacker entered the Hart Space during the event and began stabbing attendees. Police responded to the scene at 11:47 am, the Daily Express has reported.

Merseyside Police Chief Constable Serena Kennedy confirmed the details in a press conference, highlighting the severity of the attack.
