Chad Doerman, 33, was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the shooting deaths of his three young sons at their Ohio home last year.
The Clermont County judge gave him three consecutive life terms plus an additional 16 years for injuring his former wife and stepdaughter.
Doerman pleaded guilty to aggravated murder charges for killing Clayton, 7, Hunter, 4, and Chase, 3, in Monroe Township.
Prosecutor Mark Tekulve initially sought the death penalty but chose life imprisonment to spare the surviving family further trauma, the Associated Press has reported.
The children’s mother, Laura Doerman, expressed her grief and supported the sentencing, emphasizing that no punishment could bring her sons back.
