Louisiana unveils Ten Commandments posters for public schools

Louisiana officials revealed several Ten Commandments posters on Monday that could soon be placed in state classrooms.

These posters feature House Speaker Mike Johnson, the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.

The posters, shown at a news conference, are potential designs to comply with a new law requiring all public school classrooms to display the Ten Commandments, according to Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill.

One poster, titled “The House of Representatives and the Lawgivers,” displays the Ten Commandments between images of Moses and House Speaker Mike Johnson.

Another poster features a photo of Ginsburg and her quote on the world’s “four great documents,” including the Ten Commandments.

A third poster, titled “Ten (Duel) Commandments,” shows Moses next to Lin-Manuel Miranda dressed as Alexander Hamilton, referencing a song from the musical “Hamilton.”

Additional posters include quotes from former Supreme Court Chief Justice John Marshall and Rev. Martin Luther King Jr, CNN has reported.

Attorney General Murrill stated that these posters demonstrate constitutional ways to implement the law.

This news conference follows Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry’s recent signing of a law requiring the display of the Ten Commandments in all public school classrooms.

However, a group of Louisiana parents and civil rights organizations have sued to stop the law, arguing that it violates the establishment clause of the US Constitution.
