US Supreme Court declines to halt Trump’s sentencing in hush money case

The U.S. Supreme Court has rejected Missouri’s attempt to stop Donald Trump’s upcoming sentencing for felony charges related to hush money paid to Stormy Daniels.

Missouri argued that the case infringed on voters’ rights to hear from Trump, the Republican presidential nominee.

Conservative Justices Thomas and Alito would have considered the case but declined further relief.

Trump, found guilty in May, denies the allegations and plans to appeal after his September sentencing, Reuters has reported.

Missouri’s lawsuit also sought to lift a gag order on Trump, but a New York appeals court upheld it, restricting Trump from commenting on the case publicly.
