A Ferguson, Missouri, police officer, Travis Brown, is “fighting for his life” after being severely injured during protests on Friday night, marking the 10th anniversary of Michael Brown’s shooting.
A 28-year-old suspect has been charged in the assault, and several other protesters are in custody.
The protests were initially peaceful but turned violent when some demonstrators damaged the police station’s fence.
Officer Brown was injured while attempting to arrest a suspect who had broken the fence, CNN has reported.
The incident occurred on the anniversary of Michael Brown’s death, a pivotal event that sparked the Black Lives Matter movement.
