A man was arrested on Sunday for climbing the Eiffel Tower just hours before the Olympics closing ceremony, according to Paris police.
The man was spotted around 14:45 local time and quickly apprehended by officers. His motivation and nationality remain unclear.
Social media videos show the shirtless man scaling the tower above the Olympic rings, which have adorned it during the summer games.
The area around the Eiffel Tower was reportedly evacuated during the incident, the BBC has reported.
The tower, a key feature in the Olympics opening ceremony, was not expected to be part of the closing ceremony later that day.
