Escaped bull fatally shot after causing 3-vehicle wreck on I-495, charging at officers

A 1,300-pound bull broke loose from a farm in Raynham, Massachusetts, causing a car wreck on Interstate 495 and prompting police to intervene on Monday morning.

The bull, which escaped while being loaded for transport to a slaughterhouse, became enraged and broke through multiple fences before running onto the highway.

After causing a crash, the bull fled into nearby woods and swam into Lake Nippenicket.

When the bull charged at officers on shore, a police officer fired multiple shots, but they were ineffective.

Eventually, the farm owner euthanized the bull with his hunting rifle, Boston 25 News has reported.

Raynham Police Chief David LaPlante praised the officers for their bravery in handling the dangerous situation. Local agencies and state police assisted in the response.
