FBI probing alleged Iran hack attempts targeting Trump, Biden camps

The FBI is investigating suspected hacking attempts by Iran targeting advisers to the Democratic campaign of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, as well as an associate of Republican candidate Donald Trump, according to the Washington Post.

The investigation began in June, when Biden was still a candidate, with suspicions that Iran was trying to steal data from both campaigns, the Globe and Mail has reported.

Although no evidence has been found that the hacking attempts against the Democratic campaign were successful, Trump’s campaign reported that one of its websites was hacked, and the FBI is investigating.

Iran denies any involvement in U.S. election interference.
