A security guard named Abdullah attempted to save an 11-year-old girl and a 34-year-old woman from a knife attack in London’s Leicester Square, one of the city’s busiest tourist areas.
Abdullah, who was working nearby, intervened after hearing screams, managing to disarm and restrain the attacker with the help of two others until police arrived.
The victims were taken to a trauma center; the girl’s injuries are serious but not life-threatening, while the woman sustained minor injuries.
The suspect was arrested, and police confirmed the incident is not terror-related, CNN has reported.
This attack occurs amid heightened concerns about violence against women and girls in England and Wales.
