A senior investigator for the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Jerry Dunleavy, resigned over frustration with Chairman Michael McCaul’s (R-TX) handling of the investigation into the Biden administration’s 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal.
Dunleavy criticized the committee for not fully pursuing critical testimony or holding top officials accountable, despite uncovering evidence of the withdrawal’s failures.
He expressed disappointment in the committee’s efforts, calling them a “sham” and accusing McCaul of breaking promises to Gold Star families, the Washington Examiner has reported.
In response, the committee noted legal limitations and a lack of White House cooperation, with a report on the withdrawal expected in September.
