Germany seeks arrest of Ukrainian diver for Nord Stream sabotage

Germany has issued a European arrest warrant for a Ukrainian diving instructor, identified as Volodymyr Z, over his alleged role in sabotaging the Nord Stream pipelines in September 2022.

The explosions damaged pipelines carrying Russian gas to Germany, significantly impacting Moscow’s energy revenues.

Although Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has denied Ukraine’s involvement, German investigators believe Volodymyr Z was part of a team that planted explosives.

Volodymyr Z was last known to be in Poland but reportedly returned to Ukraine, Al-Jazeera has reported.

The incident has strained relations, though Germany maintains that its support for Ukraine remains unaffected. Investigations by multiple countries into the blasts have yet to identify a definitive culprit.
