Hennessey Performance tested its 1,800-horsepower Venom F5 hypercar at the Kennedy Space Center’s Space Shuttle runway, only to have the car flip during a high-speed run, causing minor damage to the 15,000-foot runway.
The incident occurred when the car lost downforce at speeds approaching 250 mph. Fortunately, the test driver was unharmed.
Hennessey CEO John Hennessey confirmed the crash on Instagram and thanked his engineers and first responders, Motor Trend has reported.
The damage to the runway was minimal, totaling $712.70 for repairs and cleanup. All footage of the incident has been withheld due to “trade secrets.”
