At least 23 injured when fire breaks out on a Ferris wheel in Germany

At least 23 people were injured when two gondolas of a Ferris wheel caught fire at the Highfield Festival near Leipzig, Germany.

The fire began in one gondola and spread to another, causing burn injuries to four people and one person to suffer injuries from a fall.

Others, including first responders and police officers, were hospitalized for possible smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the exact condition of the injured is still unclear, the Associated Press has reported.

The Ferris wheel operator stated that no passengers were in the gondola where the fire started.
