The UK government plans to classify extreme misogyny as a form of extremism under its revised counter-extremism strategy.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has ordered a review to address the rising threats from harmful ideologies, including hatred of women.

The review will focus on the increase in online and street extremism, including Islamist, far-right, and misogynistic ideologies.

It will also explore the radicalization of young people and identify gaps in current policies, the BBC has reported.

The review, part of Labour’s new approach since coming to power, is expected to be completed by October.
