Judge rejects Hunter Biden’s bid to dismiss tax charges over special counsel argument

A judge rejected Hunter Biden’s second attempt to dismiss his tax charges, stating that his request was untimely and lacked new legal arguments.

Biden had cited recent developments in former President Trump’s cases to support his claim that David Weiss’s appointment as special counsel was improper.

The judge, Mark Scarsi, noted that neither the legal opinions nor the decisions from Trump’s cases were binding precedents, the Washington Examiner has reported.

Although Biden’s attorneys revised their motion after being warned of potential sanctions for omitting key information, the judge ultimately declined to impose sanctions but emphasized the importance of candor in court proceedings.

Biden’s trial is scheduled to begin on September 9 in Los Angeles.
