Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance stated that if elected, Donald Trump would not support a national abortion ban and would veto such legislation.
Vance emphasized that Trump believes abortion decisions should be left to individual states.
These comments come as Democrats criticize Trump for appointing the Supreme Court Justices who overturned Roe v. Wade, leading to state-level abortion restrictions.
While Trump has touted his role in ending Roe, he has recently assured that he supports women’s reproductive rights, sparking criticism from anti-abortion advocates, the Associated Press has reported.
The issue of abortion remains a key focus for both parties as the election approaches.
