A Colorado man, Teak Brockbank, has been charged by federal prosecutors with threatening to kill election officials and a local judge.
Brockbank allegedly posted violent messages online, accusing officials of treason and calling for their execution, particularly targeting those who ruled against former President Donald Trump in election-related cases.
He faces charges of transmitting interstate threats, which could result in up to five years in prison.
The Justice Department emphasized the dangers of such threats to democracy and is committed to holding perpetrators accountable, CNN has reported.
Brockbank’s initial court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
